Default XP's stupid hyperlink managing method

Hy Everyone!

Does anyone know, how can I adjust the XP/Office 2003
combination to open hyperlinked jpg and gif files not in
internet explorer, but in the associated picture viewer?

So if in an Excel sheet, I click on a hyperlink pointing
to a jpg file, it would open the picture in Internet
Explorer. It's sooooo annoying. :-(((((
With Xin98/Office 2000 combination, the picture would
open in the associated picture viewer, for example in
Irfanview.

Is that possible somehow to make XP/Office 2003
combination to do the same?
Sidenote: XP is the one to blame, because XP/Office 2003
does it in the annoying way also.

Thanx,
Gabor

Gabor,
Try this.

In windows explorer right click on a jpg file, open with, choose program,
select the 'always use this program to open this sort of file', and then
select Irfanview.

OR

This came from the help on windows explorer.

To associate a file name extension with a file type

1.. Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
a.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b.. Double-click Folder Options.
2.. On the File Types tab, click New.
3.. Type a new or existing file name extension, and then click Advanced.
4.. In Associated File Type,
a.. Type or select New to create a file type to associate with the file
name extension.
-or-

b.. Type or select a different file type to associate with the
extension.

If this does not work I suggest you repost in a windows group not an excel
one.

Barbara
