consectuive numbering on Business cards
I have created a ticket for an event using the page set up as Business Cards with 8 per page. The tickets need to be numbered consecutively ie: 001, 002...020 etc. However, I don't know how to seperate each card as a page, yet still print 8 per page. The only pre-numbered tickets I can find to purchase are too narrow for the information I need to put on the ticket.

See http://www.gmayor.com/Numbered_labels.htm for the numbers
I am not sure what you mean about 'how to separate each card as a page'. If you use business card blanks they are pre-perforated, alternatively you'll need a paper trimmer or scissors! -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP Web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site www.mvps.org/word Darlene wrote: I have created a ticket for an event using the page set up as Business Cards with 8 per page. Use a Seq field. Look this up in help.
Note that the numbering will go across the page, not down. To get around this, you would need more complex fields. If you _need_ to do this, write back and I'll give you instructions but it may take me a couple of days to put them together. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. your email address returned to me as undeliverable...So I am trying this..
Yes, I do need to accomplish this task. We host Author Luncheons tri-annually and I make tickets that include a map on the back, so business card size is perfect. The previous secretary would use a manual consecutive number stamp, but for over 300 tickets, it is much too mundane of a task for me. The direction of the number is not an issue, but that I can print a consecutive number on each card. I ventured to gmayor.com and printed the "Numbered labels" section. I set up the number worksheet for the merge, but am getting a whole page of the first number, even when i do a merge print test. So, I will keep working on this. The tickets go on sale in two weeks.. If you can help, I'd be happy!!! Thanks Darlene ----- Charles Kenyon wrote: ----- Use a Seq field. Look this up in help. Note that the numbering will go across the page, not down. Where you want your number on each business card insert a Seq field.
The simple way to do that is to type the text shown below... Seq TicketNo \# "01000" Select that and press Ctrl-F9 and then F9. That gives you an active field. Select it, copy and paste it into your other tickets. Then select all and press F9 to update it. Copy and paste your page of tickets enough to give you 10 pages (assuming 30 tickets per page) and then select the whole thing and update the fields. The "01000" will number your tickets beginning with 01001 for a slightly more formal looking number.
