Get rid of the merged cells which cause no end of problems.......one of
which you just encountered.

2003...........FormatCellsAlignmentUncheck "merge cells"

2007...........HomeFormatFormat cellsAlignment.

Or HomeAlignment sectionOpen Merge dropdown and "Unmerge cells"

Your headings probably have merged cells.
You can either...
- take the merge off the cells (FORMAT CELLS ALIGNMENT click off the
'Merge Cells' checkbox)
or
- do your sort without the headings rows (DATA SORT click on 'No Header
Row').

Hope this helps.
If it does, please click the Yes button.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
