E-Mail Setting pop-up window is too narrow to enable settings
I am running Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 & in Outlook when I click on
TOOLS,then OPTIONS, then MAIL SET-UP, then E-MAIL ACCTS, then CHANGE, I get a narrow, compressed window that is too narrow to show and enable me to click on MORE SETTINGS so I can make some changes in OUTGOING SERVER. I cannot get the window to "normalize", that is, expand enough to actually display the MORE SETTINGS option. This only happens with this particular Office 2007. The other installed Outlook 2007 programs on my other computers show the full window. How can I get the full window to display widely so I can click on MORE SETTINGS? -- Thomas Peter v B |

E-Mail Setting pop-up window is too narrow to enable settings
Brian: I had already tried changing the screen resolution. Changing the
theme does not help. I am running Vista Ult. on two other hard drives and it is ONLY in the one Office Outlook 2007 that the MAIL SETUP window displays with larger fonts that will not show all the functions. Is there a "restore default settings" command in Outlook 2007? Could I have chosen bold or too large fonts and if so, how can I reset the fonts? -- Thomas Peter v B "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Thomas" wrote in message ... I believe Windows itself controls the size of fonts in dialogues. There are no settings of which I'm aware in Outlook. E-Mail Setting pop-up window is too narrow to enable settings
Hello, Brian: Thank you for staying w/ me on this. I am running two
workstations side-by-side. Both w/ Vista Ult.+ Office 2007/Outlook 2007. BOTH have their DP in the CONTROL PANEL set @ 96dpi. When I open TOOLSOPTIONSMAIL SETUPin the problem Outlook '07, it clearly has bold type about 2x the size of the properly working Outlook '07 on the other workstation. Because it occupies the pane w/ bigger fonts, I cannot display the "MORE SETTINGS" icon to right side of the pane that will enable me to enter a new IP smtp setting. Thus, I cannot re-set my e-mail to send properly. I have never seen anything like this before and cannot seem to get the bold, larger type size to go back down to the normal size which would enable Outlook '07 to display the "More Settings" comman icon to get to the next pane and configure the e-mail. Could it be something in CLEAR TYPE? How about the THEME (which is set as Windowsd Aero and which works fine on the other workstation similarly configured)? Is there a "reset to the installation defaults" in Outlook 2007 I can use ? Thank you, Thomas -- Thomas Peter v B "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Thomas" wrote in message ... E-Mail Setting pop-up window is too narrow to enable settings
Hello, Brian: I had already compared APPEARANCEEFFECTS between comparable
workstations (both even use the same workstation-class Nvidia Vertex/Pixel Shader graphics card). The settings in the workstation that displays the windows in Outlook 2007 properly use ClearType, and w/ no problem. I went to the linked site you provided and see nothing that would explain why ClearType would be the issue in the Outlook '07 that will not let me go from ACCOUNT SETTINGSE-MAIL ACCTSCHANGEand then have room in the window to show the MORE SETTINGS icon. However, I tried it & chose "STANDARD" under effects, and nothing in Outlook changed: I STILL get the narrow, distorted INTERNET E-MAIL SETTING window w/o access to the right-hand MORE SETTINGS icon. I have three Microsoft Office 2007 books and none of them address this problem. -- Thomas Peter v B "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Thomas" wrote in message ... Brian: The print size is bold and is simply too big to permit the display of
the MORE SETTINGS icon in the perimeter of the open window. This is crazy! -- Thomas Peter v B "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Thomas" wrote in message ... E-Mail Setting pop-up window is too narrow to enable settings
Brian: Thank you (again) for trying. I have an "incident" left in my TechNet
Subscr. and I will try using it. I am astounded there is not some obvious setting I may have tweaked in Outlook 2007 AND that there is not a "Reset to Default Settings" option. In the beginning, I had to set up my e-mail and this oversized type and undersized window (box) was not a problem or I could not have entered my e-mail data in the first place. QUESTION: can one open or set the Explorer bar INSIDE, Up-above In Outlook 2007? I thought I recall being able to do that--it might enable me under VIEWTEXT SIZE to temporarily re-set to the "Smaller/Smallest" settings and that might give me the smaller box so I can access the missing off-screen MORE SETTING icon to change my smtp set-up. - Thomas "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Thomas" wrote in message ...
