Default Configuring GMail in Outlook 2007

I wanted to configure GMail in Outlook 2007. The documentation available as
part of the web are sufficient to configure the same. However i had some
specific requirement. - I had 1 GB of data as part of my gmail and i don't
want to download the total mails and i want to download headers only for my
old gmail. All the new mails i want to download.

How i can configure my above requirement.

Thanks for the help.

Use IMAP. You cannot pick and choose which messages get headers downloaded
and which get downloaded fully for a particular account, but IMAP will
download more selectively than POP.
