Default Losing subscriptions

Some time ago, I noticed that OE 6 was losing ALL the subscriptions to
particular newaccounts.

In particular:

news.grc.com
news.motzarella.org

And most strangely news.mv.net. This one is strange because I hacw two other
accounts that also use news.mv.net.

In some cases, I resubscribed, but again lost the subscriptions.

Is there a fix?

Newsgroup subscriptions are kept in folders.dbx. You can delete folders.dbx
and a new one will be created. Sub-folders will no longer display as
sub-folders, but will display as folders.
It may be better to create a new Identity. That will generate a new
folders.dbx also.
Your email messages can be imported to the new Identity.

Get a more stable server. ; )

To try to minimize the symptom you could try unchecking the option:
Notify me if there are any new newsgroups
(in Options, General tab)

Good luck

Due to screw ups on the news server, the server may temporarily report
that some (or all) newsgroups no longer exist. When that happens OE
will remove the subscriptions.

The following have their own server, so no choice.

news.grc.com
news.motzarella.org

I already have 2 accounts at the following server, the 3rd screws up.

news.mv.net.

Can we tell OE to not do such checking?

I keep a list of all subscribed newsgroups in Word or a draft email.

If you do lose a newsgroup, having a list may make it easier to get it back.

Are your newsgroups set to sync when you check for mail?

back.

How?
I still have to resubscribe manually?

Are your newsgroups set to sync when you check for mail?

Do not use OE for mail.
