We use the shared calendars to keep our appoint. so that everyone has access
to our calendars, however, I want to use a pda to sync to my personal
calendar. Can I set outlook to always copy an appt. to my personal calendare
from the shared calendar in the public folder?

Outlook has no folder synching ability. You'll have to get a thrid-party tool
to do that. You can also buy a sync tool that can hande non-default folders.
