Default Office 97

I have the entire ffice 97 package and am very happy with it. I am
probably going to be getting a new computer with XP on it very soon.
Will my Office 97 software work as it should on windows XP??

I would love to update my Office software...but it is quite spendy!!

Thanks

It will work However its no longer a supported product. Once SP2 is on your
system getting office 97 off the system can be very tedious.
but in you have no plans in teh near fture to geta new version have at it.

It'll work fine IF you can get it to install! Since your new computer will
probably come with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) you'll have to read
previous posts here to find workarounds that will allow you to install and
update Office 97.

BTW, I *still* prefer Office 97 to later versions and I have NO idea why
except maybe I'm more used to it? Anyway, I agree with you, if you can use
Office 97 you don't have to spend the money to upgrade.

One other thing I'll mention.... if you get frustrated trying to install
Office 97 you might want to take a look at www.openoffice.org, it's
compatible with a very large percent of MS Office apps and it's certainly
within your price range!
