Outlook backup utility
I tried repeatidly to install pfbackup.exe and constantly tells me thas it
has detected a previuos installed version (which is not true) and asks me to uninstall by answering Yes to the subsequent question. The Windows installer pops up, I click yes, and it then returns "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed" --Dah!! I am stuck in this loop. Nothing listed in the regisrty nor in the control panler/ add/remove programs. So it thinks I have it installed AND NOT installed and it won't let me proceed. What gives? |

The add-in may not be registered correctly. So, try registering the dll with
the following steps. 1. Exit Outlook. 2. On the Start menu click Run 3. In the Open box type the following and click OK. regsvr32 "c:\program files\microsoft office\office\addins\outbak.dll" NOTE: You may need to adjust the above path to Outbak.dll to match the location on your computer. 4. After running the command line start Outlook. "IMTSam" wrote in message ... On a second thought, it looks like you may have to use a third party
tool to remove any remnants of failed installation of pfbackup. I suggest try using ccleaner http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup228.exe .. their tools section is pretty handy to uninstall any uninstallable programs. hth 20100204 wrote: IMTSam wrote: I tried repeatidly to install pfbackup.exe and constantly tells me thas it has detected a previuos installed version (which is not true) and asks me to uninstall by answering Yes to the subsequent question. DO you really expect someone to click on an executable link posted in USENET? You are naive and insane for even suggesting it. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Open %ProgramFIles%\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX\Addins and see if outbak.dll exists there. If so, you're wrong about it not being installed already. If it's there, add it directly in the COM Add-In Manager. How to find that is version-specific and you decided to keep your Outlook version a secret, so you can locate it yourself. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Dear Member of Geriatric Society, Why wouldn't anyone click on an executable link on a USENET? What is so special about USENET? Is it any different from clicking on a executable on a forum or indeed on your machine? Also, how did you work out that I am naive and insane? Did I show any signs that you have experience of due to your previous mental illness? It takes one to know another which you not be aware of ! In my country Pigs like you are slaughtered and eaten unless one is a J e w or M u s l i m. Keep up with your gibberish as it keeps us entertained. If you want any links to p*rn sites to entertain you then do not hesitate to ask us. |
