Default Formula Probs: Finding a mean & percent return of IF formulas

Any help would be appreciated

Finding the mean: One would think it would be straight forward but...

I have a wooksheet full of plug n calc formulas, which require entry of
three measurments to calc ~ 5 other formulas. The sheet is a template
and currently does not contain any initial measurements. There are 50
sets of imputs and corresponding formulas
I need to find the mean result of one formula (call it equation x), for
only the input sets used (Meaning if I only use 40 of the 50 sets, I
can find the mean of equation x in the 40 sets)
I tried using the AVERAGE (using extra '()' to get past the 30 limit)
funct but, as long as there are unused input sets, it will always
return #DIV/0!
Alternate approach: Tried to find the mean using SUM and COUNT. COUNT
worked fine (returned number on only 'used' input sets), but SUM will
always return #DIV/0! if sets are unused (Odd because I thought SUM
ignored cells that weren't numbers)
Note: I can't create the SUM funct as a range due to worksheet layout.

Percent return of specific IF formula:

Again, I have 50 IF formulas which, based on entry of three
measurements , will return one of 4 text descriptions
(Rod,Sphere,Disc,Blade) using an IF formula (Thanks to davidbrowne17
for his initial help). I would like to be able to find the overall
percent return of each of the four descriptors for the input sets used
(ex. 40% Disc 20%Sphere 30% Rod 10%Blade). Any ideas.
