Can anyone point me to information about optimizing formulas and workbook performance in general?

Thanks,

Take a look at www.J-walk.com This is an excellent site for help with Excel.
I would also suggest buying his book on Excel Formulas. The book is
invaluable for serious Excel users.

Charles William's Decision Models site is more specific to calculation and
efficiency, so more appropriate aa a resource for the OP.

http://www.decisionmodels.com/calcsecrets.htm

And Walkenbach's books may be indispensable for wanna be serious Excel
users, they're hardly necessary once one becomes one. Putting it a different
way, nothing beats learning by doing.
