Default Vista overrides Word shortcuts

I'm a shortcut girl and can't bear the thought of picking up a mouse to do
the over-95 things that I do with shortcuts. These work just fine on my
computer at work.

However, I have Vista at home with my same work shortcuts set, and instead
of the intended function occuring, a program--often Excel--will pop up.

I looked at the Properties of Excel and other programs to see if there were
shortcuts associated with opening them. There were none.

I was in touch by email with someone from Microsoft who told me that there
was nothing in Vista that should do that.

I was going to buy a Windows 7 when it comes out, but I'm afraid the same
things will happen and so I'll probably stay with XP. But for now, I'm stuck
with the most annoying thing that's come along in years where my work is
concerned.

Can you enlighten me in any way concerning this? Thanks for all the things
I've learned from you wonderful, giving people!

Most bizarre! Is it any particular shortcut that is launching Excel or is
this totally random?

Interesting. When you say a program, "often Excel", will pop up, what do you
mean? Is there a particular shortcut that starts Excel? Or one that starts a
random program? Or that some (or all) shortcuts sometimes work correctly and
sometime start Excel? Or what?
