Default word 2003 cannot open certain files created in version 2000 or 200

A large word file (2MB) created with Word 2000 we are not able to open with
word 2003. The file basically consists of tables and graphics (parts list).
We can open the file with word 2002. All OS's are Microsoft XP professional.
The most strange thing is that we have similar word files which we are able
to open with word 2003.

Renaming the "corrupt" file did not help either. What other reason can there
be or what is a solution?

G'day "EHRHARDT" ,

Open Word 2003. File Open Type = Recover text, select your
document.

Please have a look at the KB article at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828041. Do the problem documents
contain WordArt? That might account for why some files open and others
don't. Try the update and let us know what happens.
