Adding page numbers in 2003 was so easy, but this original was composed in
2003 and different presentations have been put together in 2007, but in the
Master Slide, there isn't the format from a new presentation, if I add a page
number it doesn't show up on any of the slides. Help!

PowerPoint 2007

Insert / Text group / click on Header & Footer / window of same name
launches / Slide tab / click in Slide number so that it has a tick (check) in
it / Apply to All

If my comments have helped please hit Yes.

Yeah, when you add slides based on layouts that were available in 2003 but
which aren't available in 2007, then PPT creates a new layout. That's cool,
but the header/footer placeholders don't get applied.

You need 2 things for a footer: 1) a placeholder and 2) text to populate the
placeholder.

To get the placeholder on the rogue layouts, you have to go to View | Slide
Master, select and copy the footer placeholders, then paste them on the
slide layout(s) that don't have them.

Back in Normal View, go to a slide that has the correct footer text applied
to it and select Insert | Header and Footer. Click the Apply to All button
to re-populate the footer placeholders on all the slides.
