MS Office Pro 2007 - license restriction 2 laptops
Here is the relevant portion of the US retail license. Note that the
license might read differently in other countries, and this only applies if you have bought the RETAIL version (your EULA should say what it says below): "2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a license, you must assign that license to one device. That device is the "licensed device."* A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate device. a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the licensed device. b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device." In my non-lawyer interpretation this means that you have to pick one device as your licensed device (generally a desktop, but in your case one of the laptops), and then *you* can use it as well on a second device that has to be portable. In my reading, the license doesn't stipulate the type of the first device, meaning whether it has to be a desktop or not, so I'd say you can. Please keep in mind that I am not a lawyer and that I don't work for Microsoft. My answer is only my interpretation of it. Whether you agree with the interpretation or not is totally up to you and if you get in legal trouble with Microsoft because of it, then that's not my fault.
