Installing Office 2007 with no DVD drive
I will follow the instructions about getting the trial and then entering my
product key. My computer is probably 4 years old and was really good then. I think I am getting close to an upgrade!! thanks for all the responses. -- Thanks, Leslie "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote: Oh. Installing Office 2007 with no DVD drive
Hi Tim,
The 'perpetual license' is MS's term for a purchased license. The MS Office 2007 Enterprise Trial edtion download is a special retail configuration rather than a volume license one. =================== "Tim" timfeld_at_hotmail.com wrote in message ... I found this on MS' web site (see below). It suggests you might be able to download the trial version and use the product key you purchased. However, it refers to having a "perpetual product key". Honestly, until now I had not heard of a "perpetual" key. I don't know if that is something special or not. But if I were you, I would save some trouble now and in the future and just go get a DVD drive. They are fairly inexpensive these days (in the $30 -$40 range and even less on sale). You will find you'll be needing it more in the months/years to come. Tim -- Bob Buckland ?:-) MS Office System Products MVP *Courtesy is not expensive and can pay big dividends* |

Installing Office 2007 with no DVD drive
This is all true...but I think the main point was lost. If the drive does
not have the "DVD" logo on it, it will not read DVD disks. One should not assume it will read DVD disks just because it is new or recently manufactured. I agree, it would be dumb to purchase a drive that is CD-compatible only...but they still make them and you can still purchase them. Check out Newegg...they have them for sale for $16.99. The cheapest drive they have that will read (but not write) DVDs is $21.99. I would certainly spend the extra $5 to be able to read DVDs (and certainly spend yet another $6 to be able to write DVDs). So the OP needs to ensure the drive has the DVD logo on it to ensure it will read DVD disks. Tim "JoAnn Paules" wrote in message ... Installing Office 2007 with no DVD drive
Go back to where you got it and ask for it to be downloaded on a CD and not on a DVD
Also you can get a DVD drive for about $30 today. Why not get one . You will need it more and more since many programs now come on DVD's because of their size mostly. -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged.
