Track Changes - Make Permanent
I get documents that have the appearance that the changes are tracked,
however, there is no accept or reject change option, and the changes are actually hard formatted text - color, strike through, etc. Is there a way to do that automatically. |

Maybe someone made a pdf of a Word document with Tracked Changes
showing? On Dec 22, 2:13*pm, Rich M Rich wrote: I get documents that have the appearance that the changes are tracked, however, there is no accept or reject change option, and the changes are actually hard formatted text - color, strike through, etc. Is there a way to do that automatically. |

Track Changes - Make Permanent
Rich~
MS Word's Track Changes only appear to be formatting changes, think of them instead as an overlay. If you cick inside of one of the changes, and look at the style name it will say "Normal" or "Heading 1", even though it's blue underlined. More then likely someone used a third party comparison application such as Workshare Protect's Deltaview. Applications like these will actually add styles to the document such as DV Delete, DV Insert, DV Move..... When you click inside of one these "changes" you'll notice that's the style name. In WS Deltaview these are character fonts, not paragraph. Sadly there is no way to automatically change these all at once. Deletes & move deletes are fairly easy. Highlight the text formatted as deleted text, and press delete. Inserts and move inserts are not so bad, but you have to pay attention. Highlight the text, if a paragraph contains multiple inserts, select the whole paragraph. Press Ctrl+Spacebar, this removes ALL direct font formatting. This means all the items found under Format Font which includes Italics, Size... Since the 3rd party comparison is a Font format it will be removed and revert back to the underlying paragraph style - whether it's Normal or Heading 1 or Body Text. HERE'S THE CAUTION. If the inserted text or other text in the select paragraph(s) is intended to be Italics or Bold ... That will also be removed unless it's formatted as part of the underlying style. For example Heading 1 is bold and underline, but a word was inserted that's now also blue. Holding down the Ctrl+Spacebar will remove the blue underline, but leave the Bold. For example body text is just the font face and size. But inserted words appear Blue Underline. Holding down the Ctrl+Spacebar will remove the blue underline, but leave the Bold Underline. If there was a word in that Insertion that should be formatted also as Italics, it will also be removed, but just reselect the text and make it Italics. Woops. This paragraph:
For example body text is just the font face and size. But inserted words appear Blue Underline. Holding down the Ctrl+Spacebar will remove the blue underline, but leave the Bold Underline. If there was a word in that Insertion that should be formatted also as Italics, it will also be removed, but just reselect the text and make it Italics. Should read: For example body text is just the font face and size. But inserted words appear Blue Underline. Holding down the Ctrl+Spacebar will remove the blue underline. If there was a word in that Insertion that should be formatted also as Italics, it will also be removed, but just reselect the text and make it Italics.
