Default Mirrored Page Numbers

Thanks JoAnn.
I followed your suggestions, but something seems to be missing. In my
original question, I omitted to say that I am attempting to set up page
numbering in master pages. After I create a pair of master pages for facing
pages in the document, I see how to place a page number in the footer at
either margin. When I place the page number at the left margin on the left
master page, the page number also appears at trhe left margin on the right
master page. When I change the position of the page number on the right
master page to the right margin, it moves to the right margin on the left
master page. What I'm looking for, and was previously able to do in
PageMaker, was to create a pair of master pages with the page number on the
left on the left master page and the page number on the right on the right
master page. Can I do this in Publisher? If so, how?

Yes.
1.Choose View - Header and Footer
2.(Optional) In the header, type some identifying text at the blinking
cursor, such as the word Page
3.Click the Insert Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar or
press Alt+Shift+P
4.(Optional) Select the page-number mark and format it as you would format
any other text
5.Click the Close button on the Header and Footer toolbar.

I want to have mirrored page numbers -- that is page numbers at the left
margin on even-numbered pages and page numbers at the right margin on
odd-numbered pages. Years ago, I seem to remember doing this quite easily
in PageMaker. Now, I'm using Publisher 2007 running under Windows Vista.

Can Publlisher do this? If so, how?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
