That solved the problem - but why? Thanks a bunch. It was REALLY an
annoying problem and I didn't have a clue... And also Suzanne's hint about
how to open the dopey file (which I couldn't actually SEE from inside WORD).
You guys are TOP DOGS!

So double thanks a bunch...

In Word, open your normal.dot template, click on Format | Columns | One
| Apply to: Whole document | OK. Even if "One" already appears to be
selected, click on it anyway. Type a character or two and then delete
what you just typed. Save your normal.dot template. In Word 2002 and
2003, normal.dot should be a hidden file in the "C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates" folder.

I usually work in print view. Recently, when I open a new blank document and
start typing, when i get to the end of the page I can keep typing but no new
blank page appears with the extra typing on it - like it used to. If I go to
Normal or outline view, I can see the material.
