Is there a 3rd party utility that will allow setting up search folders for
use with IMAP folders?

Without using a 3rd party utility you can only get reminders from items in
your default Inbox, Contacts, Calendar and Tasks folders. In all other
folders the items will only turn red when the reminders are due.
