thanks, but that is not the issue......no email addresses are
initially entered, just a formula, say "+r5*.05".....it places the
value in the dcell, but it makes it a hyprtlink to an email...its
driving me crazy

If you enter, for example,
into a cell it will be
recognised as an email address and turned into a mailto: hyperlink.
If you subsequently enter a formula into the same cell, without clearing
the cell first then the hyperlink will still be attached to the cell.
