First of all "spredsheet security" is an oxymoron, there is no such thing,
sure you can protect against Grandma Sarah but anyone that would bother to
use a search engine will find that sheet and workbook protection is basically
non existant

With regards to your question yes your users would need an Office upgrade
for this to work. If you are developing any systems always use the oldest
version to develop in
