Default xterior wall lengths change when glue or snap together

It depends upon how you glue the walls together. If you take an 8ft
exterior, horizontal wall, and butt it up to the outside edge of a vertical
wall, the length may seem shorter, but it really isn't. The S&P is reporting
the interior length, which should be 8ft - wall width of the vertical wall.
If you butt the horizontal wall to the interior edge of the vertical wall, it
should remain at 8ft. However, the exterior dimension is really 8ft + the
vertical wall thickness.

As a new user to Visio 07 I am trying to drraw a floor plan of my house. When
I glue exterior wall together the lengths change. I have tried the protection
under Format and have tried changing the size in the data box as well as
manually and nothing seems to work. It seems to me that this should be a
major part of this program that any lengths you input should stay put.
