Default incoming emails go directly into "Unread Mail".

The Unread Mail folder is a Search Folder which only displays unread
messages. Once you've opened the message, it will no longer be displayed
there but will still exist in the real folder that you received it in; for
instance the Inbox folder.

I have had no problems with Outlook Express for the past 8 years, but
recently an occasional email goes directly into "Unread Mail" and when
opened, then disappears from the system.
