Default odd page section breaks

Apparently, if you don't specify "Mirror margins" or "Different odd
and even" (or both) Word uses the *page number* to determine whether
it needs to insert a filler page or not.

I have seen this phenomenon before, in a case where a user was

trying to
restart numbering in a section and the first page kept being page 2

because
Word was counting the blank even page as the first page of the

section. I
suspect this may be a known bug, but I don't find anything about it

in the
KB (there are articles about improper duplexing when the actual page
numbering doesn't agree with the assigned numbers (that is, if

you've
started with page 2, but Word knows the first page is 1 and

therefore
considers it an odd page).

What may help, if you haven't already done it, is to enable both

"Mirror
margins" and "Different odd and even" headers and footers. This will

confirm
to Word that you are duplexing and may alleviate the situation,

though I
don't guarantee anything.

Hi Suzanne,
I just checked that. All of the sections begin with a certain

style and
they
each end with a certain style. I checked both and cleared out

everything
having to do with pages, but I still have the same problem.
The only thing I didn't mention is that I have a TC filed inserted

at the
very beginning of each section.
It looks like Word is making the hidden "even" page the first page

of the
new section rather than the last page of the old section.

Make sure you don't have a page break in addition to the section

break
(even
in the form of a paragraph formatted "Page break before").

I've got a problem trying to get my odd page section breaks to

fall
into
line.
When I insert the break after the last line of a section Word

shows
the
first line of the next section as being on an odd page, but

when I
print
a
section I get a blank unnumbered page as page 1 and the text

with an
odd
page number starts on the second page.
i.e. Sec 28 with odd page section ends on page 237 Sec 29

starts on
page
239, when I print Sec 29 the first page out is blank & the

second is
page
239.

The problem doesn't seem to occur in the areas where the odd

page
section
break has been inserted into an even numbered page.
