Default Microsoft Office Document Imaging "Appending" "Network Directory T

1-If there is a tool for inserting or appending new scans into an existing file, it would be so appreciated for some direction on how to accomplish this task as well as the following task.

2-Has anyone else noticed the scanning and saving process does not default to the last document saved location? This is referred to as a Network Directory Tree, for some reason when using this product when you scan the new document and go to save it, it reverts all the back to my documents instead of where you saved the last document. This in turn is very cumbersome and a waste of valuable time.
