There are several ways to customize Excel workbooks and worksheets.

Open a new workbook. Customize as you wish. FileSave As Type: scroll down
to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your workbook "BOOK"(no quotes).
Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT.

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for FileNewWorkbook.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
the default InsertSheet.

As an alternative you could save BOOK.XLT in the 1033 folder and access it
from there.

BOOK.XLT will NOT be the default if you click on "New Blank Workbook" when
Task Pane is shown.

I do not believe you can control which workbook is the default
InsertObjectExcel Workbook in Word, but someone may know more about that.

Hi: where can I fine the "workbook" file/template that appears when I click
on templates in "On my computer". I found the other templates in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033 by clicking on the files' properties.
But I can't find workbook. I want to save changes to it that reappear every
time I click on it. PLUS, I think it's the template that word uses when I
embed and excel sheet in word: I also need to to retain my customizations.
Any ideas? Wayne
