I had the same problem, and the suggestion about White Space Between Pages
seems to have fixed it, however I find it interesting that before applying
that fix I discovered that the proper top margin was displayed if I told
Word to show headers & footers then closed the headers & footers.

I had tried to delete my Normal.dot, that did not help! We will see if
checking the white space box fixes it after restarting Word.

If the problem is fixed, don't worry about what the defaults should be.
You can restore most of Word's default settings by closing Word,
renaming the normal.dot global template file to normal.old (or some
other filename of your choice), and restarting Word. Word will
automatically create a new normal.dot containing the default settings.

Office 2000 Premium - layout is print and changing views doesn't help -

i may
have fixed the problem by setting new defaults in page setup - do you

know
what the standard defaults should be??

What version of Word do you have? Another possibility is that you have
accidentally changed from Print Layout view to Normal view.

i don't have that option on that menu!

word started opening with the cursor blinking in the very top left

restore the
original formatting?
