It makes perfect sense. A program must be open to run. It has always been
this way. If you had reminders popping up without Outlook 2000 open,
Outlook 2000 was broken. You may have had a PDA docked, or Franklin-Covey
installed, or even WinFax Pro - all of these programs are known to open a
stub of Outlook. The list goes on but these are some of the major
offenders.

Outlook 2003 was programmed tighter to now allow this to happen, but it
still does for some people.

Tell me, why would you think that you would not need to have the program
open to take advantage of its features? It is like being able to type a
Word document without Word having been opened first.

What you are talking about is a bug that has since been fixed.

After furious head scratching, tbrown1775
asked this group:

| Can you expand on this reason, it doesn't make sence? Just reciently
| I have not been able to receive calendar reminders even though it
| apears all of the right check boxes are checked.
|
| I have found that if I am on the company mail.companyname.com
| website I get the reminders.

||
||| I used the Office 2000 and the calendar reminders would pop up on my
||| desk top for every reminder that I set. I paid extra to upgrade to
||| Office 2003 and now you actually have to open the calendar program
||| for the reminder to pop up. If I'm opening the program-and looking
||| at the calendar and the events I have entered why would I even need
||| a reminder? I'm LOOKING right at it...I dont understand why they

||| (or have the program open with start up). I'll go back to using my
||| Office 2000 and return this one.
