"Required file YI561403" message when trying to upgrade MS Office 2003
demo software to paid product

I get the same message when I tried to convert my Office 2003 "free"
demo provided on a new Sony laptop to a paid product. MICROSOFT TOOK
MY MONEY, THEN I CAN'T FINISH THE INSTALLATION SO THEIR PROCESS OF
CONVERTING DEMO SOFTWARE DOES NOT WORK. Since I have a laptop without
any product discs, I have no CD with the missing file YI561403, and MS
has not responded in two days to a message I left on their support
website for upgrades. Don't EVER do this with microsoft. Now I have
to spend time to find a way to reverse the charge on my credit card
because not one MS support site has any mention of this "required"
file.

Did you buy an upgrade version or a full retail version of Office? If you
had a trial version, you can't use an upgrade version of Office - you need
the full thing.

What version of Office are you trying to install? What version of Office was
pre-installed on your computer? Have you tried to contact Sony?

The MS Office 2003 Basic Edition is an OEM package
(i.e. sold with new computers). That cab file should
be available on your Office CD.
