There are two types of cell references -- relative and
absolute. When a relative cell address in a formula is
copied, the actual address is modified to reflect the new
position on the worksheet. If an absolute cell address in
a formula is copied, it is NOT changed. An absolute cell
address uses dollar signs ($) to 'fix' the cell address.
For example, =$a$1+b2 when copied down to another range of
cells, it would yield =$a$1+c2
Check Help for "absolute" cell reference.

Using MS Office 97 Excel
I am trying to do a simple add/subtraction formula and
can't make it do
what I need.
I want to have one primary cell that won't change (ie: a1
will be
today's date, 12/23/03, and will have a list of dates on
column B, and
in column C, want to show how many days between 12/23
(wont' change) and
each line...
When I do a simple formula =a1+B2... and copy it down, a1
also changes
...
Any help? thanks
