Default how do i add a printer

It's also *possible*, if you are using a corp. computer, your company admin
have set the system to not allow the USB to be used.

I work for a defense contractor and many of our Army clients have their
system setup to not allow any USB device.

But as LVTravel said, you haven't given much to go on.

frustrated! why can't I plug my laptop into any printer with success?

Well you didn't give us much to go on like what type of printer, how you
are hooking it up, etc.

Most printers require you to load the drivers prior to plugging in a USB
connection, if using that method, to the printer and computer. Each
printer has instructions on how to connect using the various methods.

If you are getting error messages we need the information above, as well
as the exact wording of error messages, the operating system and service
pack level, the printer name and model and how you are plugging in the
printer. With this information we probably can help.
