Default Contact Customisation

I am using Active sync, the standard sync software from
Microsoft for Windows Mobile 2003...

Start by checking with the manufacturer of your

synchronization software.
Most support synchs with Exchange, but make sure first.

Russ,
You have been a great help.....This seems to be getting
more complicated as time goes on.....Here is a list of
what is showing in my navigation pane...

Calendar (Has my Data in it)
Calendar in Mailbox - John Venables(No Data)

Contacts (Has my data in it)
Contacts in Mailbox - John Venables (No Data)

Tasks (Has my data in it)
Tasks in Mailbox - John Venables (No Data)

Notes (Has my data in it)
Notes in Mailbox - John Venables (No Data)

My Personal Folders are Stored in C:\My
Documents\Exchange\Outlook.pst which is listed under

Data
File Management in Folders View

But I also have another PST stored in C:\my
documents\Outlook.pst Which i think is the one I had
added temporarily.... I cant delete this file, so

outlook
must be referencing it somehow.

Russ, I am happy to delete everything necessary to

clear
this problem up including the data, as I have it all on
my PDA apart from my stored emails(cant lose those)

But I
can resync Calendar,notes,tasks & contacts.

sorry for causing all the grief, but thanks for the
continued help and support

Regards

John

Since you already said that your Exchange mailbox and

Personal Folders
contain the same data, just close the Personal Folders

to remove them from
your profile.

Hi,
The only thing I can think of for one of them, is

the
fact that I added a new datafile temporarily to

look at
some old email & the other one I assume is because

when I
installed Outlook 2003, that I linked my account to

my
PST file stored on my laptop...

How do I go about getting rid of everything, but

keep
one
set of contacts and calendar.....So that my PDa will

sync
with it..

Regards

It is not necessary to have a Personal Folders file

when
running against
Exchange, let alone 2 of them. How did those get

there?

Hi,

I usually download my mail to my laptop rather

than
keeping it on the server... I understand I seem

to
have
made a real mess of this, would you be able to

help
me
set it up to tidy everything up. I sync my pda
calendar,
contacts & email from my outlook on my laptop to

my
PDA...Not sure what i need to do to sort all

this...

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

John

This is getting more troubling all the time.
Apparently
you are using an
Exchange mailbox as your information store. Why

do
you
also have 2 sets of
Personal Folders in your Profile? Most Exchange
administrators prefer not to
use Personal Folders with Exchange.

Let's make sure that is the case, first. Your

post
is
confusing. I don't
know what you mean by Contacts labeled

Personal
Folders.
Use the Folder List view (icon at the bottom

of
the
Navigation Pane) to
display your entire Folder tree.
How many sets of Personal Folders (also
called "Outlook
Today")?
How many Contact Folders?

Hi,

I may have done exactly as you stated. I

only
have
one
contacts that are labelled Personal

Folders.

I am not sure where I went wrong...

You've left out too much information for

anyone
to
help
you.
Outlook does not show two Contacts Folders
unless
you've
configured it to do
so, even if you did so inadvertently.

Tell us
how
you
did this. I'm
suspicious you migrated data incorrectly.
How many Personal Folders Files do you

have
in
this
profile?

Hiya, I am a new user of Outlook 2003

and
am
trying
to
figure out how to setup my

contacts....The
contact
view
shows I have 2 Contact lists under My
Contacts. I
have
Contacts and Contacts in Personal

Folders.
Both
of
these
locations have the same contacts. How

do I
change
it so
that only my contacts in personal

folders
are
shown
and
also that the other one is deleted to

free
up
space..As I
am assuming I only need the one section
