Default Incorrect Office Updates in Microsoft Update

Personally I let MSUpdate do its own thing for critical updates

If you manually apply Office SP2, Windows Updates still reports SP1 needs
to be installed. It doesn't make any sense...

Can't help you on that one; I tend to let Windows Updates recommend
whatever it
likes (and ignore it while I go and do whatever I feel I really *need*).

What happens if you download the Office SP2 update and apply it
"manuallY"
rather than letting Windows Update handle things?

Does anyone know how to 1) have Office SP2 show up as a needed update
instead of SP1, and 2) how to configure Windows Update to show that
no SP
is
needed after SP2 is installed?

Pay no attention to the fellows wrestling in the mud down below the
bridge
there. Pay no attention to me, if you like.

MS, though, has this to say about it:

"Because Office service packs are cumulative, you do not have to
install
Service Pack 1 before you install Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2
includes
all
of the fixes that were included in Service Pack 1."
