Default Comical Situation

I recently bought a 3 license copy of Office 2007 at Staples for $ 149 and
installed it on three computers. I now have removed it from my old laptop
and
attempted to activate it on a new laptop built by Lenova. After repeatedly
getting error message using the product activation key on the cd case, I
called Microsoft. Here's what I learned: The copy of Office you have is
licensed for India. You can run it on a computer in the United States
after
an initial install but you can't uninstall and use it on other machine
here... this from support personel whose English is badly tainted.. What?
A
fee of $49 for technical help? But I already paid $149... You mean a
company
as successful as MS does not have a solution to help customers such as
myself
who find themselves in this situation? So I was offered a phone number
for
Lenovo... ooops turns out it's the wrong number

Obviously you have Home and Student edition of Office 2007 as this is the
only edition that allows installation onto 3 computers. Follow DL's advice
about phone activation. The reason you probably are getting hit with this
is that MS only allows transfer of licenses from one system to another after
90 days have passed and you would be required to use telephone activation if
before that time or in some cases for the 4th machine activation (which is
your case here.)

One other issue is to ensure that you have removed any trial version of the
software and any associated activation wizard and reboot the system before
installing the paid for version of Office.
