Default view non-printing characters in different color from text?

There's maybe a way to do it if you know VBA but that seems like using a
jackhammer to put a nail into a wall to hang a picture. I don't do VBA so I
can't even tell you how to start.

I prefer to view non-printing characters (paragraph marks, etc) when using
Publisher, but sometimes get a bit confused as they're the same colour of
the
text. Is there a way to view the non-printing characters in a different
color, eg blue?
