Yes it will show all the Styles in use but what I am looking for is the
ability to click on one of the styles in use and it would highlight the area
in the document that reflects when and where in the document that particular
style is in use. Something maybe similar to the show/hide button (in Word
2007 or the special characters button in Publisher 2007) where it shows all
the invisible keystrokes that a person made to produce the document.

Is this feature/ability possible or even available?

Rules", "Tabs", etc. and get an idea of the formatting and possibly get an
idea of the style, but what if the document was created by someone else

your computer does not have the style that was used and thus you yourself
had
to figure out the formatting and then create a style.

Any ideas on how to figure out the style without checking all the settings
under "Format" from the menu bar?
