Maybe Microsoft have corrected this & the Uninstall Program is OK to do

complete uninstall?


CONTROL PANELPROGRAMS & FEATURES, select the Activation Assistant and
Microsoft Office Free Trial to uninstall. Don't forget to reboot when you
are done.

This _SHOULD_ remove everything so you can install the software that you
have.
