It is a paragraph end marker. Click the matching button on the Standard
Toolbar or Press CTRL+Shift+8 to toggle the display.
If it remains when you do that : Tools Options View and uncheck all the
choices under 'formatting marks' and in particular 'Paragraph Marks'.
