Default Groove will not uninstall

Hi there,

Sounds like you will need to open up a support ticket. It sounds like there
is a problem with Vista that needs to be diagnosed. You can try posting this
issue to:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...&lang=en&cr=us

Laptop with Vista x32 enterprize edition.

Reason for wanting to uninstall:
Every time windows shuts down it gives a a Groove error saying something
to
the effect that a file is open - even when no file was ever open in that
session. It gives the error every time. It gave the error even after an
uninstall and reinstall.
Now (after making a new account on other machines I want to try it again.

The attempt to uninstall:
Exited Groove. There is no icon in the tray. Two obvious groove process
in
Task Manger were manually closed.

An attempt in "Uninstall or change program" resulted in a message to the
effect that something was wrong and it needed to be repaired.
I ran setup from the CD hoping that would open to an option to reair. It
didn't, instead it completed as if it were doing a first time install.
The current attempts at a uninstall in "Uninstall or change program"
results
in what appears to be the install/uninstall screen for a split second,
then
comes this error message: "Setup could not find any available products to
install. Please contact your administator"

What next?

Open the Task Manager and look at the Processes and at the Applications to
see if Groove is running, and stop it (Stop Process or End Application, as
appropriate), then Uninstall. If the application is running, it cannot be
Uninstalled. You might not know that it's running, and I don't know what
it is.

If you can't figure it out from the Task Manager, then restart Windows in
Safe Mode and uninstall it from there. Safe Mode will not allow Startup
Menu items to be processed, so Groove should not run until you physically
tell it to.

STOP!!!!

You might try opening the Control Panel and finding the User Settings, and
disabling the User Account Controls. I recently had a go around, and
around, and around again for good measure, with Flash Player ActiveX and
Vista, that looked alot like the complaints you are having. See if the
program uninstalls and reinstalls correctly with the UAC set to off.
You'll get a warning that this is a stupid decision on your part, but say
OK and move on.

Since I did stop Groove in Task Manager and was unable to uninstall, I
restarted in safe mode as you suggested and attempted to uninstall in that
mode. However I got the message "Microsoft Groove 2007 uninstall did not
complete successfully." With several attempts to uninstall other
applications I receved a message "The Windows Installer Service could not be
accessed... " With a little more exploration I discovered that the 'Windows
Installer Service' was stopped. An attempt to start it retuned a message
that includes "Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode"

What is the Any suggestions
