Default automating footer?

Thank you, I'll start there. It would be good if I could set all users to
use the modified normal.dot from a central location . But I also have to set
excel files the same way so this may be more complicated than I thought...
like educating the users... geez, who am I kidding!?

Is it possible to automate and "force" all users to include a footer in
each
document, spreadsheet etc. that shows the path?
I know each person can set that up themselves but I would like to default
everone to it. How can that be done?

The various applications use different models, so I can only speak for
Word...

In Word, the best thing to do would be to set up a template (or set of
templates) containing everything people need for that type of document
(letter,
memo, fax, whatever). The footer can contain a FileName field with the \p
switch (for the path).

Users can then select the type of template they want to use from the
File/New
dialogbox / taskpane.

There is a default template - Normal.dot - but if you put the footer into
that,
it could interfere with other things (such as labels).
