Default creating nested formulas

The answer to my question has probably already been answered but I am in
rather a hurry and don't have time to go through all the various threads to
find it. So Please help somebody.

I'm a teacher and setting up a worksheet to comment on a student's
coursework dependant on the percentage of marks the student has achieved.

Cells in Column 1 will have the marks and cells in column 2 need a nested
formula [I think] that will have absolute cell references to the comments

Cell A1 - Needs significant improvement [less than 40%]
A2 - Needs Improvement [Bet 40 & 60%]
A3 - Satisfactory [60 to 70%]
A4 - Good [70 to 80%]
A5 - Very Good [80 to 90%]
A6 - Excellent [90 to 100%]

I'm not sure how to create or nest formulas that will read the adjacent cell
and look up the relevant comment to post in the cell depending on the
percentage received. Please help

If the value in Cell C1 is less than 40% - the absolute cell ref should be A1
If the value in Cell C1 is greater than 40% but less than 60% - the Ab cel
ref should be A2
If the value in Cell C1 is greater than 60% but less than 70% - the Ab cel
ref should be A3
If the value in Cell C1 is greater than 70% but less than 80% - the Ab cel
ref should be A4
If the value in Cell C1 is greater than 80% but less than 90% - the Ab cel
ref should be A5
If the value in Cell C1 is greater than 90% - the Ab cel ref should be A6
