Default Inbox contains messages not addressed to me.

Norma wrote on Tue, 12 Dec 2006 05:26:03 -0800:

In Outlook Express 6 (6.00.2900.2180) I received inbox messages addressed
to other e-mail addresses of people I don't know. Also, I appear to be
on the receiving end of e-mails that start with a garbled picture with
nonsense words all over it and farther down in the body of the message it
is either personal messages or in a lot of cases discussion of financial
subjects and/or stocks. Sometimes it is addressed to my e-mail address.
Any suggestions on how to make this stop?

Get a spam filter program such as MailWasher. You cannot stop this at
source, so your only hope is to stop it at your end before it gets to OE,
either by having spam filtering at your ISP/mailhost or on your own machine.

It's very easy to send a message to someone without their address appearing
in the To: header - the To: header is never actually used by mail servers
for determining who the message is being sent to, recipient addresses are
passed in the SMTP "envelope" outside of the message itself.
