It appears that months after an appointment is listed on my Outlook calendar,

some reason?). Apparently, it clears appointments at some point when they are
6 months old or so? Is there a way to turn the clearing function off, or
maybe extend the clear date to 12 or 15 months? I can't seem to find anything
about this on MS Help. Thank you.

to disable archiving on that folder only, right click on it and choose
properties. Remove the option to archive on the archive tab. To disable it
for all folders, go to tools, options, other, archiving.

To the question about a handheld device the answer is YES, I started to
synchronise data with a Blackberry Bold 9000 from mid December.
The Blackberry appears to reflect the data in Outlook, that is to say
nothing other than the recurring events prior to mid February.

A Blackberry's default behavior is to delete older items, which during a sync
would permanently remove them from Outlook. You should configure the
Blackberry to retain older items indefinitely.

The blackberry deleted it. Default is to delete after two weeks and when
its deleted on the device, the next sync deletes in Outlook. On the BB,
open the calendar, open the menu and find Options - how long to keep is on
the bottom. Forever works. Use Autoarchive in outlook if you need to
clean off the BB - when its removed from outlook, its removed from the BB.
