Default Update word fields with excel file?

Hello everyone,

I am hoping that someone can help me with an idea I have to make our life easier here at work.

We run manufacturing projects which require alot of project specific documentation, most of the documents are similar between projects, but there are variables that change.

What I would like to do if possible is create an excel file that includes info like, project name, number, client, and other process variables. I would then like a standard set of word documents that updated their fields based upon the excel file.

Is this possible and if so how would I go about acheiving this?
