Default Office Home and Student 2007 Installation Error

Dan

Did you uninstall the Activation Assistant while you had the install files already
open on your computer for your Home and Student?

You need to uninstall all Office files including the Trial and whatever you have
already put in by trying to install the Home and Student and also the Activation
Assistant. Once done reboot and then start the install of your Home and Student 2007
version

Thanks Susan.
I already uninstalled the Office Activation Assistant, but still no joy.
I have read in another post, the possibility of a "rgstrtn.lck" file causing
the error, but doesn't appear to be the case for Windows 7.
Still have the error during setup and cannot proceed?
Dan.

Uninstall the Office Activation Assistant, as well, then try your
installation again.

On a recently purchased laptop, I uninstalled the trial version of Office,
however the laptop powered down half way through. Although in Control
Panel/Programs I no longer see the trial version of Office, so seemingly
the
uninstall completed.
Now when I attempt to load my Office Home and Student 2007 version, I type
in the Product Key which it accepts, the install commences, and then backs
out with the message "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 encountered
an
error during setup".
I am running Windows 7.
