Default Edited Outbox.dbx file

Disable email scanning of any antivirus product you are using. Then remove
your email account, close OE and reopen it and the add your mail account
back again. Its likely that a 3rd party program such as your antivirus is
generating this error. See also www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

It did not work. Other than replacing it with Windows Live email or
switching to Thunderbird or reinstalling OE (which I dread) I am out of
ideas.

I have two existing identies, mine and my husband's. I rarely use my
identity since I use Thunderbird as my email client, so I tried to send
under
my identity in OE. Same error message. I will try this possible
solution
and I think if it doesn't work, I will just replace OE with Windows Live
emal. I will let you know the results as it may be of help to others

If Bruce's suggestion doesn't work, then go to File | Identities and
setup a
new identity. Then when that works you can import from the old one.

My OS is Windows XP SP3
I did a bad thing and edited the Outbox.dbx and by edit I mean
deleted
everything in there. Now I cannot send mail. I get a "The message
could
not
be sent. An error occured." I have renamed it old, so it can
rebuild, I
have tried to restore my Store folder from a saved version on a jump
drive.
Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas? Do I have to
reinstall
Outlook Express? I would rather not if possible.
