Default Animation Appear-Hide-Appear sequence

Thanks for the response, Lucy.
The animations are not placeholders. In most cases, the animations are bmp
images or they are text box-callout arrow groups.
I tried creating completely new trial presentations in ppt2007 and saved
them in the new pptx format with no difference in the timing.
There are no gaps in the timeline that I can affect. The "appear" timing is
set to 0 seconds, and the previous image effect is set to "Hide on next mouse
click".
This is what I've noticed: If I select to "Show advanced timeline" in the
Custom Animation box, the timimg sequence is shown next to each animation
with a triangle sitting on its corner with a tip pointing toward a vertical
line which seems to represent the activation of the next animation. When I
press "Play" to watch the animation sequence in the Custom Animation sidebar,
the present animation stays visible until the "total timeline vertical bar"
reaches the triangle base. When the timeline reaches the triangle base, the
present animation disappears. After the vertical timeline bar reaches the
triangle point, then the next animation appears. During the time that it
takes the vertical timeline bar to traverse the triangle, all animations are
turned off. This lasts about one second.
If I could just make these blasted triangles disappear, my problem would be
solved. I know there must be a way to do this, Neither I nor MS basic tech
support can figure this out. Surely this effect wouldn't have been written
out of the new version 2007.
Did any of this make sense? I hope it did to you, because my sensibility is
in serious doubt at this point.

Hi Dirt

Is this text in a placeholder or something else? If you look at the advanced
animations timeline what do you see (are there gaps in the timeline, are
things set to take more time than you want, etc)? Animations changed
dramatically between 2000 and 2002 so I have seen issues when converting
presentations... Unfortunately I don't have 2000 here to try & recreate the
problem. But I'm sure we'll be able to come up with something to help :-)

I have dozens of technical presentations developed with Powerpoint 2000.
When
imported into Powerpoint 2007, the Appear-Hide-Appear animations have
about a
one second delay between "Hide on next mouse click" and "Appear". In ppt
2000
there was no delay. In ppt 2007 there is a delay and this destroys the
effect.
I have tried everything I know and have talked to the first level of
Microsoft Powerpoint technical support and they don't know how to fix
this.
The case is still open, but I am just going in a circular dance with them.
I do know how to work-around this by creating many more sequential slides
rather than relying on animations, but this would be very time consuming
re-developing all of my presentations, and it would make all of my
presentations much larger in file size. If there is not a fix, then I
would
have to make about 300 CD-R's to send to all of the technical trainers
across
North America with the corrected effects.
This has become a nightmare for me. By the end of August, all employees
are
required to have made the transition from Office 2000 to Office 2007.
Has anyone had to deal with this issue and discovered the fix?
