Default can't open outlook 2007 looking for exchange server

On windows7, goto control panelmailprofiles
I had one entry Outlook, and I deleted that.

I was then able to launch outlook without it shutting down.

I'm having the same problem--you cannot access the options or ribbon, it simply says "cannot open default email folders" and then closes again. Any ideas? THANK YOU!!

One of my clients loaded Office 2007 and tried to set up outlook. He put in
an Exchange server name which doesn't exist. Now when we start outlook it
looks for the server and when it doesn't find it outlook closes down. How do
I stop it looking for the exchange server and get it to use a pop3 account.
