Default e Mail attachment

Another guess................

Have the sender send the file as "Plain Text" rather than "Rich Text
Format".

I received an attachment recently, which, when I opened it, appeared as
gobbledegook- I have Windows xp and Offfice 2000 & it seems the attachment
was written in Office 2007. I forwarded the e mail and attachment to another
computer and it appeared as normal, but the second computer does have Office
2007.
I have never ever had this problem before. What has happened-do I need to
upgrade to Office 2007 or later?
